This past Christmas season, we were thrilled to celebrate a beautiful winter wedding with Winnie & Mike. Some of you may remember our previous blog post on their engagement session this past fall. We had photographed Mike's sister's wedding a few years back and we were so excited to be reunited with their family once again. The Terminal City Club was the resting place for the day, with getting ready photos followed by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony before heading out for some photos. Make Up & Hair by the very talented Emily Cheng.
Having such a lovely mix of both Irish roots(Mike) and Chinese roots(Winnie), a friend of Winnie's custom made these beautiful cufflinks for Mike, which was a blend of both the Celtic symbol with the Chinese Dragon. Quite a stunning piece indeed!
Mike had to endure a bit of the traditional Chinese door games before getting a chance to see Winnie for the first time. But I know it was well worth the wait in the end as there was not a dry eye in the room when Mike turned around to see his bride to be...
Winter weddings are some of my most favourite weddings to photograph. Christmas is such a magical and festive time of year and Christmas lights often times make for great backdrops. But as many of you know, winter in Vancouver can sometimes be a bit tricky with the weather. Thankfully for us, we were blessed with a dry morning and the lighting was perfect for photos as soon as we stepped outside! Albeit a chilly day, but I would rather have cold than rain any day:)
St. Augustine's church was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. The christmas wreaths strung above the lights were my favourite.
Natalie from Zola Blue Weddings & Events was the wedding planner for the day. She did a fabulous job with ensuring the day ran smoothly. Decor for the wedding was provided by Lucy of Simply Detailed Weddings.
One of my most favourite rooms at the Terminal City Club is the ballroom with the glorious floral wallpaper and sconces. We took full advantage of the room while taking photos of our wonderful couple before heading to the reception.
